Mr. Willie Robert Cockman, 70, of Sanford entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in Moncure, North Carolina.

Willie Robert Cockman was born on August 7, 1953, to the late Emma Leggett and Joe Cockman. 

Willie attended Union Pines High School in Cameron, NC, where he graduated.

Willie was raised going to church at First Baptist Church located in Cameron, NC. He was a well-known native of Cameron. Willie drove trucks and hauled logs for a living. His love for driving trucks began around the age of sixteen. He loved talking about driving his trucks to anybody who would listen. He never met a stranger.

Willie was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, two brothers, Joe Cockman and Marvin Leggett, and a brother-in-law, Hosea “Jr” Griffin.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of twenty-two years, Mrs Cynthia Cockman, of the home; three stepchildren, James Griffin, Charlene Griffin, and Antonio Griffin, all of Sanford, NC; two favorite granddaughters, Jaden Brown (Nova Jean) and Renae Griffin of Sanford; a favorite nephew, Hosea “Joe” Snipes; a favorite niece, Courtney Frye of Carthage, NC; several great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; four cousins, Darlene Leggett and Marie Russell both of Hoffman, NC, Harold Leggett of NY, and Richard McCrimmon of Sanford; an aunt, Reverend Annie Mae McCrimmon; and other relatives and friends.
