Mr. William "Leroy" Evon Snipes Sr., 71, of Sanford, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mr. Williams (Leroy) Snipes was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. On April 11, 2022, he departed from this life at WakeMed in Raleigh, N.C.
Mr. William Snipes was born on January 30, 1951, in Lee County, N.C., to the late Glenn and Doris Snipes of Sanford, N.C.
Leroy was connected to the love of his life for 50 years; they were married on April 2, 1972, until her passing on December 17, 2019. He so loved his Kathryn that he continued to mourn her passing.
Leroy loved motorcycles and cars. Working on them gave him the joy to see what made them tick. When we would take our cars to him with problems for him to fix, he would always say, “there ain’t much wrong with it,” Even though he never had any official mechanical training, he could always fix the problem. Just hearing him say, “there ain’t much wrong with it,” gave us reassurance, and not hearing him say it any more will greatly be missed.
Leroy worked for over 30 years at Hallman’s Foundry as a machine operator. Leroy was thoroughly enjoying his retirement.
Leroy was a member of New Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, where he expressed his sincere love and devotion to God, his church, and his family.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Snipes, parents Glenn and Doris Snipes, paternal grandparents Willie Herbert and Emma Snipes, maternal grandparents Levi Evans and Lissie McIver, sibling Phillip Lee Snipes, grandson Demetrius Snipes, brother-in-law Johnnie Smith, and father-in-law Douglas Allen.
Leroy leaves to cherish his beautiful memories, his loving and caring children Rhonda D. Johnson of Lillington, NC, William Snipes, Jr. (Katelyn) of Sanford, NC, Ray Baldwin of Killeen, TX, and Steven Baldwin (Camelia) of Broadway, NC; his grandchildren, Octavias Snipes, Kendra Snipes, Kayanna Johnson, Ahyanna Snipes, Messiah Snipes, Royalty Snipes, William L. Snipes, Ciani Baldwin, Xavier Gilmore, Ray Baldwin, Mashayia Dennis, Rae’Niyah Baldwin, Steven Dougwillo, Marquez Patterson (Martha), Steven D. Baldwin, and Zenovia Baldwin; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Ann Snipes, Veta Smith, Johnny Jean Snipes, Cynthia Smith (George), and Clyde Snipes; a special niece, Regina Allen; his mother-in-law, Betty Jean Allen; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
