Mr. Wellington Delano Dickens, Jr., 66, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina.
Wellington Delano Dickens, Jr., son of the late Wellington D. Dickens Sr. and Roberta Winston Dickens, was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on August 21, 1956. He entered the “ Master’s Joy” on March 14, 2023, in Sanford, NC. His brother Leon B. Dickens and his sister, Janet Dickens Lassiter, also preceded him in death.
Well, received his early education at Mary E. Phillips Elementary and graduated from William G. Enloe High School in 1974.
Well, was enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 with an honorable discharge in 1978, and he continued in the reserves until 1980.
Well, was a faithful employee of IBM for twenty years and worked his remaining years at Wolfspeed for seventeen years.
Well, was quiet by nature but very outspoken and he had a smile that would light up any room. Well, was a family man and held family values close to his heart. He enjoyed the family fellowship gatherings and reminiscing about the old days. He never complained; he continued moving forward even when he wasn’t feeling well. Well, loved fishing, golf, Walmart, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Well, knew without a doubt that the Lord was the source of his strength and he was indeed a praying man.
Wellington Delano Dickens, Jr., affectionally known as “Pops,” leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Sonia Y. Dickens; sons, Wellington D. III, Jeremy, Isaiah, Brandon, and Daughter, Nyeisha; his sisters, Teresa Dickens, Lisa Simmons, Paula Crepsac (Rico); his aunts, JoAnn Douglas (Virgil), Sherine Dickens; his in-laws, Michael Lassiter Sr., Isaac and Alberta Black, Teresa Bailey(Pevas), Sheila Smith (Johnny), and Anthony Black (Michelle); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
*The family will receive visitors at 1100 East Point, Sanford, North Carolina. At the family's request everyone that enters the home must be masked.*
