Obituary

Mrs. Virgie "Honey" Leach Armstrong, 93, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina.

Mrs. Virgie “Honey” Leach Armstrong, daughter of the late Johnny Vester Leach and Emma Jane McPhatter Leach, was born February 9, 1930, in Nassau County, New York, and departed this life Saturday afternoon, July 29, 2023, at First Health Hospice Center in West End, North Carolina.  Her late husband, Deacon Jesse Carswell Armstrong of Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church, preceded her in death. “Ms. Honey” was a faithful member of Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend until the end.

Virgie loved people and took care of children. Everyone who knew her affectionately called her “Ms. Honey or Aunt Honey.” She loved the Lord and faithfully served as Deaconess, on the Usher Board, and the Senior Choir at church. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, gardening, and working on her flowers outside.

Virgie met a special man, the late Jesse C. Armstrong. They fell in love and united in holy matrimony in 1950. To this union, there were five children born whom she loved.

Virgie leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her loving memories: two sons, Larrien (Vickey) and Jesse Armstrong and their families of Charlotte, North Carolina; three daughters, Priscilla (Stanley) Bullock and family of Cary, North Carolina, Cynthia Campbell of the home in Southern Pines, and Minister Sylvia Armstrong of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Alexander Leach (Victoria) Wagram, North Carolina; one sister in law, Deloris Leach of Southern Pines; eight grandchildren, Ebony, Keith, Stephanie, Beanca, Odena, David, Simone, and Valerie; two great-grandchildren, Anya and Luke; and a host of other relatives.

Special thanks are given to our sister Cynthia for being our loving mother’s *lifetime caregiver*.

Please keep the family and friends of Mrs. Virgie "Honey" Leach Armstrong in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements are entrusted to McLeod Funeral Home of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
