Mrs. Verlean Buie Cole, 87, of Sanford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 5, 2024, at her residence. 

Verlean Buie Cole was born September 4, 1936, to the proud parents of Dove Buie and Nannie (Douglas) Buie.  The Lord called her to receive her crown on February 5, 2024.

In her primitive years, Verlean worked in agriculture and later became a sewer at W. Koury Company until its closing.  She re-entered the workforce again as a sewer at Four Seasons Apparel until its closing.  She retired shortly after and spent her remaining years serving God and nurturing her family.

Roland Cole (husband), two sisters, Elisa Jones (Roger), Mattie Bell McLean (Sam), Archie Buie (brother), Grover Franklin Cole (son), Johnny Gilmore, James McKoy, and Alford McKoy (stepsons) preceded her in death. Also, one special granddaughter, Gwendolynn McKinnis McIntyre preceded her in death in 2022.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Augusta Ann Cole of the home, special daughter, Dianne McLaughin (Alvin) of Sanford, NC, three stepdaughters, Fatima Ahmad (Endicott, NY), Shirley and Juanita McKoy (Lillington, NC), eleven grandchildren, and host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Matriarch, Mother, and Grandmother were her most valued achievements.  She relied upon her faith in all things big and small, and never missed an opportunity to teach her family about the importance of knowing God.
