Theodore Rogers McLeod

Mr. Theodore Rogers McLeod, 74, of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Vass, North Carolina) entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Theodore Rogers McLeod was born on July 16, 1948, to the late Willie Lee McLeod and Bertha McLeod Coston in Vass, North Carolina. Theodore took his rest from this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Florida. Theodore attended Pinckney High School in Carthage, North Carolina, and graduated in 1960. World Weather Bureau employed him for six years and AG Parking Garage for twelve years. Later he was employed by Bata Shoe Factory, where he retired after ten years of service. Theodore then started McLeod’s Lawn Care in Mulberry, Florida, where he could live to the fullest by serving people.

Theodore was an active member and a Deacon of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Marques Gundy. During his years as a St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church member, he was affiliated with the Brotherhood Society and the Male Chorus. Two things were for sure, his faith was steadfast, and he was not shy about telling everyone about the goodness of the Lord.

Theodore enjoyed playing golf, cooking, traveling, and church. He enjoyed a life full of love, the love of God, family, and friends. He was a wonderful, gentle, nurturing person, full of kindness. Theodore brought sunshine to many people’s lives.

Theodore was preceded in death by his son, Brian King; his parents, Willie Lee McLeod and Bertha McLeod Coston; his stepfather, Jefferson Coston; a brother, Eddie McLeod; two sisters, Faye Lou McLeod Johnson (William) and Sheila McCrimmon; and a grandson, Dylan McLeod.

Theodore (Tea) is survived by his wife, Gloria McLeod of Landover, Maryland; four children, DeCarlo Boyd Coley (Towanda) of White Plains, Maryland, Lisa Luckie (Jason) of McDonough, Georgia, Jeffrey McLeod of Clinton, Maryland and Loria McLeod Ellington (Phillip Jr.) of Landover, Maryland; nine grandchildren, D’Auna Coley, Dajia Coley, Jasmine Latimer, Jason Luckie III, Jayda Luckie, Jasmine Williams (Cortney), Allen McLeod, Divine Ellington, and Phillip Ellington III; six great-grandchildren, Zion Carroll, Jonah Luckie, Nadia Luckie, Leilani Luckie, Yasmin Williams, and Courtney Williams; one brother, Eugene McLeod (Jeannie) of Clinton, Maryland; three sisters, Marilyn Dominique of North Charleston, South Carolina, Patricia Peterson of Rockingham, North Carolina and niece/sister, Sheree Mallory (Larry) of Yulee, Florida; aunts,Annie Rogers, Maggie McCrimmon, Mozella Graham, Judy McLeod, Mamie McLeod and Fannie Mae Rogers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
