Mr. Sylvester Petty, 67, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4,2025. 

Sylvester Petty “Charlie Brown” was born to Rush and Sadie Petty on September 21, 1957, in Lee County, NC. He transitioned home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025.

Sylvester was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed music, fishing, and sports. He also had a passion for growing plants and doing yard work. His favorite saying was, “give out, but don’t give
up.”

Sylvester was preceded in death by his father, Rush, his mother, Sadie, two brothers, Rush Jr. and James A. Petty, and one sister, Betty Lou Petty.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Falisha Petty, of the home; two sons, Sylvester Brooks (Vashawn) of Stockbridge, GA, and Edwin Petty of Sanford, NC; one daughter, Louisa  Petty of Sanford, NC; one stepson, Dedrick Petty of Sanford, NC; four granddaughters, Tatyana Huggins of Dallas, GA, Breana Huggins of Fredericksburg, VA, Ashanti Huggins of Dallas, GA, and Ja’Nya Petty of Newport News, VA; two grandsons, Jahmier and Kyree Silver of Sanford, NC; four brothers, Pastor Bruce Petty (Karen) and Melvin Petty, both of Sanford, NC, Jefferson Petty  (Renee) of Charlotte, NC, and Pastor Terry Petty (Sedonia) of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Carolyn Epps (William) and Michelle Buckhanon (Sammie) both of Newport News, VA; one stepsister,  Monica Sanders (Johnny) of Fayetteville, NC; one stepbrother, O’Neill Bellamy of Wilmington, NC; a sister-in-law, Rochelle Petty of Bronx, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and  friends.
