Ms. Sonya Lynne McMannen, 62, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Pinehurst, North Carolina. 

Sonya Lynne McMannen, daughter of the late Edward McMannen and Grace Patrick McMannen, was born on December 8, 1962, in Moore County, North Carolina. She departed this life  peacefully on May 14, 2025, at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Pinehurst, North Carolina. 

Sonya grew up in a Christian home and attended St. James Lutheran church, where she was baptized and became a member. She remained a member until her health declined, which prevented her from attending services.

She was educated in the Moore County School system. She attended Pinecrest High School, graduated with honors, and developed a passion for cosmetology. She went on to become a licensed cosmetologist in the state of North Carolina. Sonya worked taking on clients and doing hair while also working at Quail Haven Village as a dietary aide. Afterwards, she developed an interest in  truck driving, where she drove team over the road until her illness.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Thomas Euguene Frederick, Jr. of Southern Pines, NC; a sister, Renee McMannen of High Point, NC; a nephew, Jordale Reaves; a brother, Graham  (GT) Bailey; her grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Michael, Devon, Vanessa, and Trisha; special friends, Deborah Deberry, Dede Huff, Margaret “Dionne” Hamilton, and Crystal Blue; and the  congregation of St. James Lutheran Church. As well as a host of great aunts, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
