Mr. Rodney Lopez Cameron, 60, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.
Rodney Lopez Cameron was born on November 29, 1964, to John Louis and Joanne Pearson Cameron. On Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025 God, with infinite wisdom, peacefully called Rodney into eternal rest at Sanford Rehabilitation Center in Sanford, NC.
Rodney was a blessed and exceptional member of the Cameron family from birth. At the age of eighteen months, he attended the NC Grade School for the Deaf in Raleigh, NC. He was promoted from grade school to the North Carolina High School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC, where he graduated with the Class of 1982.
Rodney was a sports lover and could be seen glued to the television rooting for his two favorite NC teams, the UNC Tarheels and the Carolina Panthers. Rodney, his dad, brother John, sister Pam, and nephew Jamar, all took part in trash-talking during the games. Christmas presents for Rodney would often include paraphernalia from the two teams.
Rodney was a lover of Jesus Christ and could be found on any given Sunday ushering at Chestnut Church along with his dear friends, Ollie McIver, Betty Judd and Ana Prince. Putting on his Sunday Best and having the responsibility of ushering was very close to his heart. The day at church was not complete until he got a kiss on the cheek from his aunt Sarah, where he pridefully kept the imprint of his aunt’s lipstick on his cheek for the entire church service. He had an impeccable sense of style and finesse, which he took straight from his uncle Robert Earl’s playbook. Rodney’s suits, ties, and shoes were so sharp you could cut them with a knife.
Rodney was also a lover of family. He and his mom shared a special bond. His mom made sure all of her children learned American sign language at an early age, allowing them to communicate with Rodney. His parents, sisters and brother gave him unconditional, supernatural, exceptional love and he gave that love right back. This love also covered his extended family. Rodney’s love and infectious smile followed him wherever he went and it is that smile and loving spirit that we will always remember.
Rodney was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela who loved and cared for him until her passing.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, John Louis Cameron, Sr. and Joanne Pearson Cameron of Sanford, NC; three sisters, Vondolynn Ray (Fred) of Fayetteville, NC, Jacqueline Cameron of High Point, NC and Carol Chapman (Roger) of Sanford; one brother, John Cameron ,Jr. (Marrissa) of Whitsett, NC; five nieces, Brittany, Mardia, Makalya, Maleah, and Destiny; three nephews, Jamar (Shaune), Dwight Jr. and Joshua; four great nieces Kimiyah, Peyton, Mariah, and Melina; five great nephews, Malik, Tyrique, Jakobie, Jalen and Jaleel; his beloved aunts and
uncles, Aunt Sarah Jefferson, Uncle Frank Cameron and Uncle Robert Earl Cameron, all of Sanford, Aunt Bobbie Pearson of Scranton, PA and great Aunt Bernice Rollins of St. George, SC.
Please keep the family and friends of Mr. Rodney Lopez Cameron in your thoughts and prayers.
