Mrs. Rita E. (Evans) Hill, 73, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday,  September 10, 2024.

Mrs. Rita E. Hill was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Southern Pines, North Carolina, on December 28, 1950, to the late Julia Mae Evans and Winford Smith. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her home with her loving family in Southern Pines.

She attended the Moore County school system and was an avid Class of 69, West Southern Pines Yellow Jackets member. Rita retired from Whisper-Knit as a master seamstress. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Hill, and her son, Henry B. Gillespie Jr.

Rita leaves to honor her legacy and cherish fond memories, two children, Renita Kelly (Chris) of Southern Pines and Antonio Gillespie (Gwenetta) of Portsmouth, VA; six granddaughters, Brandi, Antonette, Britanny, Cierra, Charisma, and Natavia; two grandsons, George and Donavahn; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dr. Alice Faye Hooker and Gail Baker Gilchrist, both of Sanford, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Christine Gillespie; best friend, Chrissy Thompson; and a host of cousins and friends.

Rita was greatly loved and appreciated. She will be truly missed by ALL.
