Mr. Ray Morgan Smith, Jr., 85, of Pinehurst, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.  

Ray M Smith, Jr, 85, of Pinehurst, passed away at home on Tuesday December 9,2025 after his courageous battle with heart failure. He was formerly of East Patchogue, NY.

Ray received his BA from Rutgers University and spent the next 34 years teaching US history and coaching football at Sagamore Jr HS in Holtsville, NY. Retiring in 1994, he and his wife, Sue, moved to Pinehurst where he enjoyed many rounds of golf.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Smith Sr and Teresa Flamman; wife, Sue M Smith and sister Sandi Zeman.  

He is survived by his daughters, Karla J Smith of Mason City, IA and Karin Curto of Gallatin, TN; grandson Anthony Curto of Gallatin, TN; and sister, Nancy Gambino of Boca Raton, FL.
