Minister John Artis Blue, 89, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his residence in Sanford, North Carolina.
Minister John Artis Blue, the third child of ten children to the late Reverend John Henry Blue and Lula Bell Phillips Blue, was born on October 28, 1932, in Sampson County, North Carolina. He transitioned to his mansion at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
Minister John Blue attended Harnett County School and joined the army afterward on February 27 1953 with two years of active duty and six years in the reserve to complete his eight years of service.
Minister John Blue was ordained as a deacon under the leadership of his father. He was a New Bethel FWB Church member for many years and served in many church capacities. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer. He served under Apostle William Powell’s leadership by working to help accomplish the work of the ministry. Deacon John A Blue held the office of head deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and served as intercessory prayer leader. Deacon John A Blue later joined Gospel Light House under the leadership of Apostle Reginald White. Deacon John A. Blue faithfully accepted God’s promotion from his ministry as a Deacon to a Minister.
Minister John Blue would always jump at the opportunity to display his faith in his God. He would always tell the doctor; you have a book of stuff over there about what I supposed to have; “I DON’T HAVE WHAT YOU SAY, but My bible tells me I have what I say.” His favorite words were “Lawd Jesus help us,” which is often what he’ll say for every situation. His greatest joy was working with his dad as a chauffeur traveling near and far to take his father to preach. His favorite colors were black and white. Some of his hobbies were riding his lawn mower. He would ride it during the fall of the year, stating that he was making mulch to fertilize the yard, but a special time for him was reading his Bible and having someone to read it to him, especially his grandchildren.
Minister John Blue was preceded in death by six siblings Evelyn Edwards, William Blue, Charlie Blue, Nathaniel Blue, Jeanette James, and Laura Blue Daniels; one daughter, Hazelene
Patterson Dearman; two grandchildren, Quinetta Maria Mckoy and Shamekia Washington.
Minister John Blue first saw the love of his life in Broadway, NC. She went to the county fair with her brother Paul Marks Jr and asked which night he could take her to the fair. Her response was,
“this is the last night, and I am with my brother.” On August 3, 1963, he married Geraldine Marks, and five children were born to this union.
