Mike Derek Lindsey

Mr. Mike Derek Lindsey, 60 of Sanford, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 30, 2023, at his residence. 

Mr. Mike Derek Lindsey, age 60, passed peacefully at his home on Monday, October 30.

Mike, the sixth sibling of nine children, was born on May 25, 1963, in Lee County, North Carolina.

Mike, a jack of all trades known to most as” Wonder Mike” or “Bo Diddley,” was a classic dresser who loved complimenting his outfits with a matching hat. Mike enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and having a good time with family and friends. He always knew how to brighten a room with his bright smile and sense of humor.

Mike grew up in Moncure, North Carolina, and attended the Chatham County School System. He had various jobs assisting others with his handyman skills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lessie Mae Clegg and Simon Kelly, and two brothers, Timothy Lindsey and Lester Lindsey.

Mike leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Marlon Lindsey of Liveoak, Florida, and Uribe Gill of Charlotte, North Carolina;.his siblings, Robert Toomer (Quentina), Kenneth Lindsey (Estelle), Sidney Lindsey, Regina Everette, Sharon Brooks (Reggie), Angela Watson (Phillip), Doretha Partridge, and Linda Harrington (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Marlon Lindsey, Marjenae Lindsey, Marlon J, Lindsey Jr., and Maximus J. Lindsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his extended Dorsett family.

Mike will forever be in our hearts. He will be remembered by his favorite quotes, “oh, that’s how you feel” and “where they do that at.”
