Mary Elliott Obituary

Mrs. Mary Helene (Cole) Elliott, 83, of Aberdeen, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 26, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst.

Mother Mary C. Elliott was born on March 23, 1940, to the late Willie Guy Ray and Rachel Lee Fowler (Stephen) of Aberdeen, North Carolina. On February 26, 2024, while surrounded by her  daughters and loved ones, God called her home to be with Him.

Mother Mary was raised in Aberdeen, NC. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a devout Christian. Mother Mary loved to use her soulful voice to praise her Lord  and Savior. She was a member of Christ’s Way Community Church in Aberdeen, NC.

Mother Mary loved spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. She loved cooking various foods and was well known for her famous meatloaf, okra, and tomato soup. On the weekends, Mother Mary loved spending time with her extended family at Down Memory Lane. She loved to sing and dance and to show love to everyone.

Mother Mary instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of service. She was adamant about being a servant in God’s vineyard. She believed doing for those who cannot do for  themselves was essential. She believed it was important to be a blessing to whomever because God had continuously blessed her. Mother Mary was a strong soldier in the Army of the Lord. She kept the faith and fought a good fight.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Elliott, her parents, and her brothers, Franklin Lewis Cole and Samuel Ray. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Sandra  Vamper (Arizona), Harriette Clark (Michael), and Kathy Turner; her son, John Curtis Elliott (Cynthia); eight grandchildren, Mario Vamper, Michael Kendall (Destiny), Torrie Vamper, Stephanie  Clark, Derel Kendall (Mara), Keedra Kendall, and LeAnn McKoy; nine great-grandchildren, Jamiya Kendall, Margo Carter, Alaya Kendall, Avery Kendall, Omarion Vamper, Talia Carter, Derel  Kendall, Jr., Amari Kendall, and Philip Clark, Jr.; eight sisters, Jimmie Lee Brown, Linda Ann Fowler, Rowena Galbreath (Junior), Patricia Belk, Betty Hill, Victoria Hill, Sara Jane Hill, Jackie  McSwain, and Pearl Utley; four brothers, Robert Fowler (Esther), Ronald Scales, Sr., Ronnie Hill, and Michael Hill; godchildren, Cynthia Marks, Elder Dock Kelly, Jr., Brandy Frye Brittingham,  Emily Davis, Niya Locklear, Ruby McNeill, and Kelly Ray; adopted daughters, Carrie Johnson, Roxie McKeithen, and Julia Monroe; honorary sisters, Grace Stubbs, Helen Ford, and Nata Nolan;  and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
