Mrs. Martha Gaines Reels, 98, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Quail Haven Village in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  

Martha Elizabeth Gaines Reels, affectionately known as “Libby,” was born on May 10, 1928, in Moore County, North Carolina, to the late James Adam and Bessie Elizabeth Gaines. She  departed this life on June 19, 2026, in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Libby attended school locally, and in 1978, she furthered her education by enrolling in nursing school in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Joseph Reels Jr. in 1951. Libby would use her field  of study by returning to North Carolina in late 1982/1983, in time to assist with the care of her aging father.

Martha had one cherished child, Stephen A. Gaines, who preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish Libby’s memory are her devoted two grandchildren, Kurt Gaines of Boston, Massachusetts, and Katina DaRose of Brockton, Massachusetts; six great-grandchildren, Junior,  Nikita, Stephen, Kayla, Kage, and Kyan, all of Brochton; one sister, Brenda Brown; one brother, Wayne Frye (Linda); and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
