Mr. Mark Anthony McKayhan, 70, of Southern Pines, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Seven Lakes Assisted Living & Memory Care in West End.
Mark Anthony McKayhan passed away into God’s graces at Seven Lakes Assisted Living and Memory Care facility after a long illness. A fighter until the end, he was called home on August 13, 2023, at the age of 70.
Mark was born on February 13, 1953, to the late Benjamin H. McKayhan and Pauline Gilchrist McKayhan of Southern Pines, North Carolina. He was educated in the Moore County School System. At an early age, he accepted Christ at Harrington Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Mark enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking and laughing the most. He spent many hours lovingly joking with his mother, sisters, brother, and brothers-in-law.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin H. McKayhan.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Pauline McKayhan; three sons, Mark Anthony McKayhan Jr. of Lumberton, NC; Justin Canfield of Aberdeen, NC, and Phillip Canfield of Greensboro, NC; two stepdaughters, Louise Stancil of Fayetteville, NC and Rhonda Stancil of Raeford, NC; one brother Ret. Lt. Col. James M. McKayhan (Marilyn) of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Paulette Ross (Andre’) of Durham, NC; Margaret Lloyd (Frank) of Durham, and Linda Nicholson (Jerry) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
