Mr. Mark Adamson, 64, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Mark Adamson was born on June 14, 1961, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, to Mae Frances Adamson, who preceded him in death. He departed this life on July 31, 2025, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Mark, known affectionately to many as “Peter,” was a testament to the life he lived. He attended Southern Pines Elementary and Middle Schools and graduated from Pinecrest High School in 1979. After graduation, he continued his education at Sandhills Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration.
In his early years, Mark began employment at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC, working in the Housekeeping Department. He later transferred to the Operating Room and then moved into the Purchasing Department within the Administrative Division. He served there faithfully for over 30 years. Later, he worked at Jos. A. Bank men’s clothing store until his health began to decline.
Mark accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and heeded the call to ministry that God placed on his life. He received his calling at Wells Tabernacle COGIC under the leadership of Elder J.H. Turner, where he became an ordained elder. Later, he served under the leadership of Bishop Simpson at Sydney Grove Church of Deliverance in Ellerbe, NC.
Mark never met a stranger. He was known for his warm smile, big hugs, and encouraging words. His laugh, which was joyful, full, and uniquely his, was truly one of a kind. It could fill a room and lift a spirit, and once you heard it, you never forgot it. He enjoyed football, basketball, golf, watching WWE SmackDown and Monday Night Raw. He especially loved watching and attending wrestling matches with his son.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Smith and a half brother, James Robinson. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 38 years, Jamie Adamson, of the home; one beloved son, M. Juwan Adamson Jr., of the home; one sister, Sharon Jones (Elder Anthony Jones) of Wendell, NC; one brother, Keith Adamson of Raleigh, NC; three half-sisters, Rose Baldwin (Tan), Annie Mae Hutchinson (Frank), and Patricia Robinson; one half-brother, Bobby Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He also leaves behind three cherished grand-cats: James, Riley, and Molly. He fondly named them after basketball icons—James for LeBron James, Riley for Steph Curry’s daughter, and Molly just because she was sweet.
Special thanks to Vera Clark and John Baldwin for being devoted caretakers.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and service to others. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
“Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
