Ms. Marion R. Briggs, 76, of Queens, New York, (formerly Southern Pines, North Carolina) entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at The Hospice Inn in New York.
Marion R. Briggs, daughter of the late Henry & Jessie Hollingsworth, was born on August 9, 1946, in Pinehurst, North Carolina. She entered eternal rest in New York City on April 12, 2023.
Marion received her primary and secondary education in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and New York City. Marion continued her education in Liberal Arts at the State University of New York. Marion’s career involved working in the administrative department of the 113th Precinct New York City Police Department, where she retired as a Police Communication Tech in 2012.
Marion, affectionately referred to as “Auntie” and “Aunt Marion,” was known for her high fashion sense, beautiful jewelry, and gorgeous long hair. In addition, “Aunt Marion” loved to keep up with family and friends on Facebook with her many pages. She was a loving and giving person who truly loved her family.
Marion was preceded in death by her only child, Michael “Chris” Briggs. Marion is survived by and leaves to cherish her precious memories six siblings, Faith Threadgill of Southern Pines, NC, Michelle Hill (Theodus) of Aberdeen, NC, Betanya Blake (Stan) of Winston-Salem, NC, Edward Lee Hollingsworth (Denise) of Canton, MI, Monte Hollingsworth of Charlotte, NC, and Dennis Hollingsworth (Patricia) of Queens, NY; her godchildren, Precious Haskell, Queon Threadgill, and Marion Sheppard; an uncle, Peter Monroe (Corine) of Cheasapeake, VA; very special friends, Sharon Rogers and Fannie Glen; a cousin, Rosalind Jihadbey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, relatives, and friends.
