Maggie W. McCormick, 87, of 3402 Renee Drive, Sanford, NC, entered into rest on Monday, November 11, 2019 at her home.
Obituary
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing" -- 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Mother Maggie H. McCormick was born on February 14, 1932 to the late Ella Alford and the late William Henderson. She made her transition from earth to eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2019 at her home in Sanford, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by one son, William Henderson; two sisters, Roberta Ocheltree and Mary Henderson; three brothers, James Henderson, Frank Henderson and Clarence Henderson.
Maggie attended school in Marion, South Carolina. She worked at Townsend Poultry Factory for eighteen years and later retired.
She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and joined Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Spring Lake, North Carolina where she remained a faithful member. Mother McCormick's life was one of service to her family, church, friends and community.
Mother Maggie McCormick served in many capabilities of the church. She was a member of the Senior Choir, served as a Sunday School Treasurer, member of the Usher Board, Home Mission, Mothers' Board and was President of the Pastor's Aide where she faithfully supported her pastor. Mother Maggie McCormick also served many years as a Church Delegate and Cape Fear Conference B Field worker. She will forever be remembered for her dedicated service to the Lord. The words of her testimony from the mother's corner will truly be missed.
Maggie leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, James H. Mitchell, Jr. (Shirley) of Sanford, NC and Jerry Mitchell of the home; one daughter, Patricia Ann Mitchell, also of the home; sister, Estella Neal; two very special nieces, Sylvia "Nikki" Richardson (Carlos) and Tiffany Richardson; a caring niece, Rosa Lloyd; two special nephews, Samuel and Joshua Neal; a very special friend, Felicia Cameron and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
