Leroy Campbell

Mr. Leroy Campbell, 91, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at his residence.

Leroy Campbell, age 91, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, transitioned on July 8, 2023. He was born on June 11, 1932, to the late Frank and Ethel Campbell of Hoke County, North Carolina.

Leroy attended Avery’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at an earlier age before becoming a faithful St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church member. While attending St. Mark, he became a dedicated trustee. Leroy enjoyed listening to gospel music. He was joined in holy matrimony to Betty Campbell for forty-five years.

Leroy was employed at McCain Sanitarium for thirty-two years as a cook. His hobbies included gardening and sightseeing. His favorite sayings were: “If you halfway take care of your own business, you won’t have time for mine.” “I’m going to help the Lord take care of me, and You Be Blessed.”

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Victor and Albert Campbell, and Herbert McNeill, Jr., a brother, James Campbell, four sisters, Ruth Baker, Ada Mae Baker, Ruby Campbell, and Mary Magallien Campbell, a daughter-in-law, Leatrice McNeill and two grandchildren, Eric and Randa McNeill.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Betty; his daughters, Jean Campbell of Louisville, Kentucky, Lesa Rochester (Murray) of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, Angela McNeil (Alexander Brinson) of Southern Pines, North Carolina and Tammy McNeill of the home; one sister, Ethel Naves (Rubin); grandchildren, Tron Campbell (Gina), Phillip Graham (Kelli), Brandi Huntley-Taylor (Stephon), Christopher Huntley, Kendra Campbell, Tristan Huntley and Alexandria Brinson; great-grandchildren, Antron, Trevion, Chance, Tyce, Kyaun, Daria, Dreux, Caden, Brooklyn, Micah, and Taylor; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
