Mr. Larry Darnell Drakeford, 70, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina.  

Larry Darnell Drakeford, age 70, was born on May 5, 1955, to the late Willie Mae Shannon and Willie James Drakeford in Aberdeen, North Carolina.    He transitioned from earthly time to eternity on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at FirstHealth Hospice House in West End, NC.

Larry graduated from Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, NC, in 1976. He was married to Laura Brown, the mother of his children. To this union, three daughters were born. He later worked a variety of jobs which included a custodian and a school bus driver at Aberdeen Elementary School, at two factories, Aberdeen Trico and Blue Bell. He also worked at the Carolina Dining Room in Pinehurst, NC. Finally, Larry discovered his niche, a combination of horticulture and landscaping. He loved the outdoors. We cannot leave out that Larry was a skilled Black Belt Karate Artist, which is the highest level of the skill. He lived a very sociable life, developing many unforgettable quotes and nicknames.

Larry loved fishing, gardening, watching Science Fictions, Western, and horror films, and helping people whenever he could. He confessed salvation and later was baptized in Jesus name, under the leadership of his pastor and brother, Pastor Elder Johnny Drakeford. He was a loyal member of The Faith and Truth Church of The Apostle Doctrine, which was established in 2012.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willie James Drakeford and Ralph Junior Drakeford, and three sisters, Rosa Mae McQuillar, Dorothy Reddick, and Geraldine Drakeford;
gone but not forgotten.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Larry are, his three daughters, Tiphanie Drakeford, Shereka Lindsey (James), Keyana Drakeford; the mother of his children, Laura Spencer; two brothers, Robert Lewis Drakeford (Emma) and Johnny Drakeford; two sisters, Janie Bell Hill, and Virginia Wike (Larry); five grandchildren, Tyrez Russell, Shekirah Russell, Nia Drakeford, Ja’Nae Lindsey, and Jayvin Lindsey; three great grandchildren, Carter, Giana, and Chloe; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
