Mr. Keith Donnavon Scarborough, 59, of Greensboro, formerly of Southern Pines, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Keith Donnavon Scarborough was born on June 22, 1964, in Moore County, North Carolina. He completed his journey, and the Lord called him home on December 23, 2023, in Guilford County,  North Carolina.

At a very young age, he became an avid basketball fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and Los Angeles Lakers. His love for basketball drew him to play recreational, middle, and high school  basketball. Keith graduated from Pinecrest High School in 1982 and attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was a high school and collegiate basketball referee.

All who knew Keith knew that he loved to talk, and there was never a quiet moment in the room if he was in attendance. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary McDonald Scarborough,  his father, Walter Sloan, and his brother, Napoleon Scarborough.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Sonya; daughter, Walidah; sons, Marshe-reki and Quinn; grandchildren, Breanna, Jaliyah, Duquon, Aniya, Zorianna, and Carmen; great-grandchild,  Kehlani; brother, Larry; sisters, Mamie, Jackie (John), Deborah (Eddie), Shelia, Veronica, and Waldrette (Larry); aunt, Alma Hogan; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to McLeod Funeral Home of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
