Katherine Burch McCormick

Mrs. Katherine Burch McCormick, 82, of Sanford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Highsmith-Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Katherine Burch McCormick, 82, was born on December 14, 1940, to the late Carlton and Queen Esther Burch. She transitioned into her heavenly life on August 24, 2023, at High Smith-Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Katherine grew up in Cheraw, South Carolina. She later moved to Sanford, North Carolina as a young adult, where she married and started her family. Katherine was an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved to dance! Some of her favorite pastimes included staying current with the soap operas, fishing, growing and nurturing her beautiful plants. As her health declined and her mobility became limited, she became a big fan of Christian television. If you knew “KAT,” as she was affectionately called, you also knew that she was rarely without her Tuberose Snuff and never met a stranger. When she wanted to ensure you heard or understood what she was saying, it would be followed up with a firm “ya got me?”

Katherine leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Faye McCormick, Kathy McIver, Tracey McCormick, Sirena McCormick, and Margaret Duncan (Marquail), all of Sanford, North Carolina; a special daughter, Gladys-Ann Clegg of Sanford; two sons, Walter T. McCormick of Sanford and Donald McCormick of Stedman, North Carolina; four sisters, Neomai Burch, Hazeline Petty, and Wilma Barrett all of Sanford and Penny Burch of Greenville, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
