Jimmie Iris Lee Cole Brown was born on January 8, 1936, in Aberdeen, NC in the Broadway Community, to Rachael Lee & Lynn F. Cole, raised by her mother and bonus father, Stephen  Fowler. On June 28, 2024, Jimmie Lee left her body to be with the Lord. Jimmie was also preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Robert L Brown, her son, Alvin, a brother, Lewis, a sister,  Mary, a bonus daughter, Phyllis, a granddaughter, Lateira, and a great-granddaughter Keira.

Jimmie Lee aka, Kitty, Ms. Millie, Momma or Momma J, Aunt Jimmie, Aunta Jimma Lee, Nana, Suga Momma, Grandma, Granny & GiGi, as she was known so dearly by her loved ones.  She graduated from Berkley High School and received certifications from Sandhills Community College.

Jimmie lived in a few places, but Aberdeen, NC was always home. She had a love for beautiful things and enjoyed shopping, whether in a store, through a catalog, or on television. She had  many desires that may have seemed unfulfilled on earth, but she held a strong belief that one day she would go to the promised land and have all her heart’s desires fulfilled.

Jimmie joined St Joseph AME Church in Aberdeen, NC, which she still attended when she visited North Carolina. She was also an active member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, serving as a  Missionary and Deaconess until she relocated back home after her husband’s passing. Then, she attended and joined Christ’s Way Community Church in Aberdeen, NC.

Jimmie leaves to treasure her memory and beauty, her children, Rachelle (Roy) of TX, Robert of the home, Thomas (Teresa) of VA, Ronnie (Tammy) of NC, Darnell (Lisa) of TX, Barbara of VA,  Lewis (Lisa) of NC and Monise (Rodney) of NC; her grandson/son, Jonathon (Emily) of MD; a sister, Linda; brothers, Robert, Ronnie, Shawn, all of NC, bonus daughters, Sandra, Harriette, Dede and Lydia; a granddaughter, LeAnn, as they have been very much a part of her caregiver journey; several grandchildren,great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other non-biological children and grandchildren too many to name. Cynthia, aka Pudding & Maggie, for being there for her whenever we called.

Jimmie Brown was always sassy, classy and ready for the runway. She loved her family and was raised to be close knit and she wished everyone could experience that.
