Ms. Jemika Shanta Frye, 39, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Jemika Shanta Frye, 39, passed away peacefully at her home in the community of Jackson-Hamlet, in Aberdeen, North Carolina, on November 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 19, 1986, Jemika lived a life defined by compassion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to caring for others.
A graduate of Pinecrest High School Class of 2004, Jemika pursued her passion for nursing. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Sandhills Community College in 2010. She later continued her education at Winston-Salem State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2021. Throughout her career, Jemika touched countless lives with her dedication to her patients’ health and well-being, even as she faced challenges with her own health.
Beyond her professional dedication, Jemika was known for her vibrant and spontaneous spirit. If you were blessed enough to call her a friend, you had a truly good one; loyal, dependable, and always ready to lift your spirits. She had a remarkable gift for making others laugh; her sense of humor and quick wit could brighten even the hardest days.
As a mother, Jemika was unwavering in her devotion. She made countless sacrifices to ensure her children were supported, encouraged, and deeply loved. Her guidance and nurturing presence will continue to shape their lives forever.
Jemika was also the world’s best auntie, playful, supportive, and endlessly loving. Her family will forever cherish the joy, laughter, and warmth she brought into every room she entered.
A true people person, Jemika had a way of making everyone around her feel seen and valued. Even when she faced her own struggles, she continued to uplift others with kindness and encouragement. She loved to cook, and her famous ranch burgers, always made with love, will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Galloway Blue, and her adoptive father, Haywood Frye, who lovingly welcomed her into his life at the age of three.
Those left to cherish fond memories of Jemika are, her mother, Rose Frye, and her stepfather, Ronnie Hill; her beloved children, Jahikeem McDermott and Leyah McDermott, and their father, Jawarior McDermott; her brothers, Ronnie K. Hill, and Ronnie Reaves; her sister-in-law, Jamie Reaves; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply.
The impact Jemika had on others’ lives is unforgettable. Her laughter, her generosity, and her beautiful heart leave a legacy of love that will continue to shine through all who were fortunate enough to know her.
