James Jefferson Jr. Obituary

Mr. James Hallie Jefferson Jr., 88, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 1, 2024, at VA Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

James Hallie Jefferson, Jr. was born on December 26, 1935, to the late Hallie and Beulah Harris Jefferson. On Friday, March 1, 2024, an angel came silently and quickly to the Durham  Veterans Hospital in Durham, NC, to take him to his heavenly home.

James Hallie, as he was affectionally called by many, was preceded in death by his parents, Hallie & Beulah Jefferson; three sons, Ronald, Donald, and James Jefferson, III; a sister, Betsy  Faucette; and a brother- in-law, John Faucette.

James Hallie was educated at W.B. Wicker School. Upon completing his education, he entered and served in the United States Army. After returning from the Army, he married Sarah Cameron  on December 23, 1958.

He was a faithful member of Chestnut AME Zion Church, where he served on the Trustee Board, Steward Board, choir member, and was President of the Men of Zion. He worked for Cherokee  Brick for years before starting his own Trucking Company. He started Jefferson Trucking Company in 1978, where he owned and operated. He retired from trucking in 2013 to do whatever the day  brought before him. James Hallie loved his family and was always there to help and assist in any situation where needed.

James Hallie leaves to cherish many beautiful memories, his wife, Sarah, for over 60 years; daughters, Chandra Rogers (Dewey) and Maureen Jefferson of Sanford, NC; Marva Ford (Parrish) of  Uniondale, NY; grandsons, Jamie Ferguson of Toms River, NJ; Shaquille Stepney (Jasmaine), Sanford, Parrish Ford, Jr., of Uniondale, Joshua Jefferson of Greensboro, NC, Dewey Rogers, II of  Sanford, Anthony Jefferson of Broadway, NC and Israel Johnson of Sanford, NC; a granddaughter, Breanna Jefferson of Broadway, NC; a great-granddaughter, Symone Stepney of Sanford; a  daughter-in-law, Roslyn Jefferson of Broadway,; brothers-in-law, John Cameron (Joanne), Frank Cameron, and Robert Cameron, all of Sanford; special friend, Leroy Murchison (Linda); close cousins who were like siblings, Janice Toomer (Ted), Vivian Green, Fred Douglas (Carolyn) and Daniel Partridge (Barbra); a bonus son, Angelo Fox (Lisa) of New Haven, CT; he also leaves  six nieces, three nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
