Mr. James Wesley Graham, Sr., 78, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Providence Place Assisted Living in Aberdeen, North Carolina.
James Wesley Graham, affectionately known as Wesley, was a proud son of West Southern Pines, North Carolina. Born on January 17, 1947, to Solomon Graham and Reaver Pass Graham, both faithful and loving parents who preceded him in death, Wesley grew up surrounded by family, faith, and a strong sense of community that shaped the man he became.
Wesley grew up and attended grade school in West Southern Pines. After graduating from Flushing High School in Flushing, New York, Wesley began his professional life as a licensed barber. Those early years suited him perfectly; he loved people, good conversation, and sharing a hearty laugh. There was no better place for that than a barber’s chair. His humor, wisdom, and easy charm could make anyone feel at home.
As time went on, Wesley changed lanes—literally—and became a CDL driver, working for Johnson and Johnson in New Jersey, with Oakwood Homes, and several other regional companies throughout southeastern North Carolina. Wesley also worked for many years at the water treatment facility for the City of Southern Pines, NC. Whether behind the wheel of a rig or sitting on the porch sharing stories, Wesley carried himself with pride and purpose. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger, who could turn a quiet moment into laughter, and who trusted God through it all.
Wesley is now reunited in heaven with his beloved brothers, Ansol Everette Graham, Sr., and William Anthony Graham. We take comfort in knowing that the three of them stand hand in hand on the heavenly side, with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, together again in eternal peace.
Wesley leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever cherish his memory, his sons, James Graham (Doreen) of Hattiesburg, MS, Ronnie Graham of Huntsville, AL, Russell Graham of Norcross, GA, and Corey Graham of North Chesterfield, VA. He was a proud grandfather of tweleve grandchildren and a great-grandfather to twenty beautiful great-grandchildren.
Additionally, he leaves behind a circle of loving brothers and sisters who will miss him dearly, Patricia Tibbs, Solomon Graham, Gloria Fairley, Daniel Graham, Marti Moore, Vera Miller, Robert Graham, Joseph Graham, and Faye Brown. Along with them are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were touched by his laughter and unwavering spirit.
As we gather to remember Wesley, we do so with both tears and smiles. We mourn his passing, but we also celebrate a life lived fully — a life rich with love, faith, and family. Wesley loved a good story, a hearty laugh, and the simple joy of spending time with those he cared for. His laughter still echoes in the hearts of all who knew him. Let us take comfort in knowing that he rests now in God’s eternal embrace. And in his memory, let us hold tight to our families, enjoy the conversations, and always find reasons to laugh.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7
“Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near — Still loved, still missed, and always dear.”
