Mr. James Davis Jr., 75, of Moncure, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at his residence. 

James Davis Jr. (Pete) was born on August 15, 1948, to the late Annie D. Crump in Linden, NC. James was one of seven children. However, he was raised by his grandparents, James Leslie &  Candies Davis.

He attended Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC, and graduated in the class of 1966. James was employed at Boise Cascade as a press operator and was President of the union. He later worked for 40 years until retirement at the Moncure plywood plant.

James married Mary Alice on October 4, 1975. They were married for over 48 years; four children were born to this union. 

James attended Rosehill AME Zion Church and served as the trustee board chairman and a male chorus member until his health declined. He had many hobbies, including talking on the CB  radio, where his handle was Cold Duck, grilling out for family and friends, keeping his many cars cleaned, and his love of watching sports. He was a Carolina Panthers football/Duke Blue Devils  basketball fan.

James was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie & Candies Davis, his uncle, Floyd Davis, his aunt, Carrie Davis and  his mother, Annie D. Crump.

James leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Alice Davis; seven children, Anisa (James), Charlene (Anthony), Kimberly, Cotrina, Channetta (Johnnie), James Jr. (Danielle), and Bridget;  eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, siblings, Hubert (Dorothy), Lacy, Margaret (John), Ella, Chester and Earl; three brothers-in-law, George (Ella Mae), John (Cheryl), Donnie (Renee);  one sister-in-law, Stella (Ed); a mother-in-law, Mary Battle; a special cousin, Darlene Taylor; three best friends, William Winston, Billy Winston & Marshall Winston; a host of nieces, nephews other  relatives and friends.
