Mr. James Lee Cameron, 74, of Cameron, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2025.  

James Lee Cameron was born on October 14, 1950, in Sanford, North Carolina, to the late Geneva Mildred Cameron. On July 28, 2025, surrounded by the peace of his home, James transitioned  from this life and entered into eternal rest.

James received his early education in the public schools of Newark, New Jersey, and graduated from West Side High School. He went on to dedicate many faithful years of service as a school  bus driver for the West Orange Board of Education, where he took pride in caring for the children of his community.

James was a gentle and humble soul. He was a quiet force, steadfast, kind, and deeply devoted to his family. He was blessed with a sharp sense of humor and a joyful spirit. He enjoyed sports,  especially basketball, football, and baseball, and was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bulls, New York Giants, and New York Knicks. He found great joy in watching classic westerns, cooking, and  listening to music, which he loved, especially James Brown. Above all, James lived a life of quiet faith and enduring love. He cherished his family and remained a pillar of strength and compassion for all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen Holland Cameron, and Hilda Cameron Davis and Thomas Junior Davis, who lovingly helped raise him.

He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, his devoted daughter, Doretha Powell of Newark, NJ; four grandchildren, Shanta Powell, Kesha Powell, and Danesha Powell, all of Newark, and Tyee  Powell of Snellville, GA; fourteen great-grandchildren; his loving siblings, Albert Cameron (Florence), Tommy Brower (Sandy), Clarence Cameron, Carl Cameron, Catherine Cutler (Willie),  Merrendia Gilchrist (Garner), and Monique Mallette (Mark), all of Cameron, NC, and Alvin Cameron (Cindy) of Moncure, NC. He is also remembered with love by a host of nieces, nephews,  extended family members, and dear friends.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that James is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved  him.
