Mr. Henry Douglas, Jr., 75, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.

Henry Douglas, Jr. was born on January 27, 1950, to the late Henry Douglas, Sr. and Mildred Mason Douglas. He answered his heavenly call on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice Care in West End, North Carolina.
Henry graduated from West Southern Pines High School in Southern Pines, NC. He was a phenomenal athlete and excelled in several sports, including basketball, football, and baseball. He later attended Kittrell College and graduated from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a degree in education. Henry also later attended and graduated from Fayetteville State University with a master’s degree in education administration. Henry was employed for over thirty years in the Moore County School system as an Educator and coach. He later retired from Marlboro County Schools in South Carolina.
Henry served faithfully in his church, Trinity AME Zion Church, and the Southern Pines Men’s Service Club, as well as in other community organizations. He had an immense love for education, sports, and children. He spent his time tutoring, coaching, and mentoring young athletes. He loved his family and community. Henry’s big personality and humor filled the room and hearts of those who loved him.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mildred Douglas, and his sister, Dorothy Jackson.
Those left to cherish fond memories of Henry are, his wife of 50 years, Gwendolyn Douglas; three daughters, Kisha Alston, Aeshia Jackson, and Toni Boney (Nicholas); two sons, Henry Douglas III, and Quentin Douglas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Saylon, Gloria McNeill, and Toni Baskerville (Anthony); his brother, James Glen Douglas; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly.
Henry will truly be missed. May memories of his big smile, laughter, and wisdom live in our hearts forever.
