Mrs. Helen Juanita (Smith) Tomlinson, 67, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. 

Helen Juanita Smith, aka “Skeet,” was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. She departed this world on November 12, 2024, at her home in Sanford, NC.

Helen was born on April 17, 1957, in Lee County to Roland Smith and Bettie Mae Gilchrist Smith. She was educated at Johnsonville School. She went on to work at J. T. Davenport in Sanford, NC. She later became a member of Mt. Nebo Church, but that didn’t stop her from coming home to see and hear her family sing. She loved to listen to her brothers sing.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Bettie Smith; her siblings, Annette Smith Norwood, Fedrick J. Smith, Johnnie Smith, and Patricia Smith; her maternal grandparents,  George and Alice Gilchrist; and her paternal grandparents, Shellie Smith and Beulah Gilchrist Smith.

Helen leaves to cherish her beautiful memories of her to four beautiful children, James Edward McDougald, George A McDougald (Allison) and Helena Michelle Scott all of Cameron, NC and  Juan J. Tomlinson of Sanford, NC; her grandchildren she loved so much, Trinity McDougald, Devonte Scott, Georion McDougald, Jamor McDougald, Damiyon Scott, Isaiah McDougald, Jamiah  McDougald, Dwayne Jr, and Mircle McDougald; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobbie J. Jordan, Leon Smith (Reverend Linda Smith), Willie Smith (Reverend Vera Smith), George Smith  (Cynthia), and Andrew Smith; two sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Smith and Jackie Smith; three aunts, Ellen Brewington, Shirley Gilchrist and Luvenia Jones; a very special niece, Renee Fairley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
