Mr. Haywood A. Hollingsworth, 76, of Greenville, North Carolina (formerly of Broadway, North Carolina) entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Haywood Alexander Hollingsworth was born in Sanford, NC, on December 31, 1947. He transitioned to rest on November 30, 2024, in Greenville, NC.

Haywood enjoyed drag racing, playing cards, and watching old Western movies. He was often found entertaining friends, making rhymes, and telling jokes. His favorite phrase was “I’m Haywood from Hollywood.” Haywood was a hard worker. He was employed with Halman Foundry, Federal Spinning, and Sanford Brick Company during his early years. He later moved to Pitt County and retired from Barnhill Contracting Company.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Lee Hollingsworth, sister, Marjorie Lee Bunyon, and a friend, Patricia Douglas.

Those left to cherish many fond memories of Haywood are, a son, Haywood Jerome Hollingsworth (Latrece); two brothers, William Hollingsworth (Wilhemenia) and James Hollingsworth (Tracey); three sisters, Mary Taylor (Ernest), Minister Patsy Murchison (Deacon Freddie), and Michelle Hollingsworth; his grandchildren, Oliver McNeill, Haywood Hollingsworth Jr., Tricia Ann Hollingsworth, Shante Surles, D’Angelo Davis, Jeremy Rodgers, and Alaysia Ross; eleven great-grandchildren; two bonus daughters, Angella Rodgers (Greg) and Adrienne Douglas; a very special companion and caregiver, Elizabeth Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
