Hannah Ruth (Jones) Rogers Obituary

Mrs. Hannah Ruth (Jones) Rogers, 88, of Pinehurst, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at The Greens at Pinehurst in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Hannah “Ruth” Rogers was born in Moore County, North Carolina, on April 19, 1937, to the late John Virgil “David” and Emma Jane (Williams) Jones. She departed this life on January 1, 2026.

After graduating from Academy Heights School, Ruth went on to beauty school in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she met her first husband, Albert Joe Louis Womack. Sadly, Albert passed after a few short years of marriage, leaving Ruth a youthful widow with four very young children. Determinedly, Ruth pursued work as both a hairdresser and a housekeeper to provide for her family. In due course, she met her second husband, Worth Rogers, Jr., and they eventually returned to settle in Moore County, making this their final home. She was blessed with two more children,  whom they raised together until Worth’s passing in 1982.

Though well-known as a hairdresser locally, Ruth was a multifaceted, feisty, outgoing, inquisitive woman with many other interests, including being active in her church (St Matthews FWB Church,  Eastwood, NC), attending gospel singings, fishing, yard work, crocheting, tackling home repair projects, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. A lifelong learner, she attended  Sandhills Community College later in life, pursuing an interest in electronics that led to proficiency in television repair. She derived particular joy from her TV repair hobby, as it both stimulated her mind and allowed her to help friends and neighbors with their televisions. Faced with declining health in her later years, Ruth entered The Greens at Pinehurst Nursing Home (formerly ManorCare of Pinehurst), where she peacefully resided the remaining two decades of her life.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, David and Emma Jones, both of whom she cared for in the home until their passing, two sons, Geoffrey Lewis Womack, and Gregory Lee Womack, one daughter, Gwendolyn Briana Womack, three sisters, Sarah Ann McLaughlin, Emma “Mary” McLaughlin and Nora Jane Brown, and three brothers,  Hezekiah Jones, Jeremiah Jones, and James Carson “JC” Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Earl Womack, Sr. (Tammy), Jacqueline Womack, and Dana Womack; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Please keep the family and friends of Mrs. Hannah Ruth (Jones) Rogers in your thoughts and prayers.
