Gwendolyn (McKinnis) McIntyre

Ms. Gwendolyn McIntyre, 47, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 in Sanford, North Carolina.  

Gwendolyn McKinnis McIntyre was born April 12, 1975 to the late Grover Franklin Cole (paternal parent of Sanford) and Stephanie McKinnis Tate (Maternal Parent of Spring Lake) in Harnett County.  She became a resident of Sanford, NC early in life and graduated from Lee Senior High School.

Gwen grew up attending Moore Union F.W.B. Church and choose Works For Christ Christian Center (WFCCC), under the leadership of Dr. Alice & Lewis Hooker, as her church home in her later years.  There, Gwen was a faithful member of The Higher Dimension Choir.

Gwen spent most of her adult life as a skilled worker in many manufacturing facilities.  She went out of her way to befriend most anyone.  She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her best friend, Joycelyn McDougald.  Gwen loved singing, dancing, writing and found pleasure playing her tambourine in church.

Gwen is survived by: her four children, Teyonna L. McKinnis of Sanford, NC, Joshua D. McIntyre of  Sanford, NC, Treyvon M. McIntyre of Spring Lake, NC and James R. McIntyre of Pittsboro, NC; grandmother/legal guardian, Verlean B. Cole, aunt/adopted mom, Augusta A. Cole, two adopted sisters, Virginia A. Cole and Crystal A. Atkins of Sanford, NC; two brothers Tyrone McKinnis (Sheila) of Spring Lake, NC, Jerome McKinnis of Spring Lake, NC; one grand-daughter Miracle Kehlani London Green (Ke-Ke) of Sanford, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

*The family will receive visitors at 1005 Poplar Springs Church Road, Sanford, NC.  At the family's request everyone that enters the home must be masked.*
