Mrs. Grace (Patrick) McMannen, 89, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 4, 2024.  

Grace Patrick McMannen, daughter of the late Willie Patrick and Bertha Totten Patrick, was born on August 4, 1935, in Guilford County, NC. She departed this life on October 4. 2024.

Grace grew up in a Christian home and attended Garretts Grove Methodist church, where her parents were members. She was baptized and became a member of St. James Lutheran Church in 1970 and remained a dedicated and faithful member until her health declined and prevented her from attending services. She served as treasurer of the church for 42 years and was a member of the Altar Guild, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), Bible Study class, and choir. She was also a member of The West Southern Pines Community Helpers Club for over fifty years  where she served as treasurer.

She was educated in the Guilford County Schools. She attended the Johns Hopkins School of Radiological Technology and became registered with the American Society of Radiologic  Technologists. She also graduated from Sandhills Community College in 1973 with an AAS degree in accounting. She was employed by the State of NC Department of Correction as  a Radiological Technologist and retired in 1999. She was married to Edward McMannen, and two children were born.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward McMannen, her brothers, Willie “Herman” Patrick, Keith Patrick, Robert “Ervin” Patrick, Phillip “MP” Patrick, William Patrick, Clarence Patrick and Jimmy Garner, her sisters, Dorothy Smith and Annie Garner, a stepson, Graham “GT” Bailey. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Sonya L. McMannen of Southern Pines, NC and Renee McMannen of High Point, NC; grandsons, Thomas Frederick, Jr. and Jordale Reaves;  great-grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Michael, Devon, Vanessa and Trisha.

She is also survived by her sisters, Alma Reid of Greensboro, NC, Shirley Patrick, of Boston, MA, Ivonia Patrick of Sedalia, NC, Patricia Rudd of Greensboro, NC, Brenda “Sue” Patrick Brown of Summit, NC, and  Alease Williamson; her brother, Kenneth Patrick of High Point, NC; a special friend, Dionne Hamilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
