Mrs. Genia Carol (Yarborough) Gilchrist, 64, of Cameron, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina. 

Genia Carol Yarborough Gilchrist was born on September 14, 1961 to the late Paul, S Yarborough and Althea (Pat) McDougald, and departed this life Sunday, August 2, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina. 

Genia was educated in Lee County School systems. She graduated from Lee Senior in 1979.

Genia was employed with Carter Weber, Eagle Electrics and Static Control, but her career with JC Penney’s brought her the most joy.

Genia joined and was baptized as a member of Mount Zion OFW Baptist Church at an early age and later became a member of St. John’s after marrying Artis Sonny Gilchrist.

Genia was preceded in death by her daughter Mekhia, her Father Paul S. Yarborough, her father-in-law and Mother-in-law, her Brother, William  Michael Yarborough, and a host of Aunts and  Uncles.

Genia leaves behind memories with her Husband Artis Sonny Gilchrist, son  Brian Yarborough, daughter Ty’ana Gilchrist, Mother Althea (Pat) McDougald, Sister Sheila Yarborough McNeill, 3 Sister-in-Laws Wanda(Charles), Faye, Sinethra Grandchildren, Khalil, Amauri, Lauryn, Brian Jr, Charm, DJ,  Ayden and Aaliyah, 1 Niece Kiara (Julious), 3 Nephews, Charlie, Daryl, Tristan, 1 Uncle Rufus Yarborough (Dee) and a host of family and friends.
