Frances Mae (Barrett) Rodgers

Mrs. Frances May (Barrett) Rodgers, 78, Sanford, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

Frances Mae Barrett was born July 7, 1945, to the late Roy David and Delvinnia Spruiell Barrett in Gulf, North Carolina. She was one of three children.

“Mickey” as she was referred to by close friends and family was a kind and loving woman. Her smile was contagious, and you rarely saw her without it. Mickey was a diligent worker all her life. She worked at McDuff’s Cleaners for many years. She was one of the first women to work at Pomona Pipe Company. In her later years, she worked diligently as a CNA.

Frances loved spending time with her family. She loved music and fishing. Her words of wisdom were: “Be kind and love one another.” She joined Macedonia Church at an early age and rededicated in 2013. She served in Food Services and Culinary Arts.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her husband James Robert Rodgers.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her son: Tony Ray Barrett (Angela) Sanford, NC; Granddaughter: Shanika Denise Barrett, Sanford, NC; Grandson: Tony Ray Barrett, Jr. Virginia Beach, VA ; Great grandsons: Izayah Reid, Treyvion Reid, Legend Langston (of the home); Great granddaughters: Nayeli Wilson, and Adrianna Barrow, Sanford, NC; Brother: Henry Lee Barrett, Sanford, NC;
Sister: Melvina Headen, Goldston, NC; Nieces: Beverly Berryman (Donnie), Sanford, NC and Nikki Russell, Sanford, NC; Nephews: Andre Barrett (Rita), Charlotte, NC and Ivan Barrett (Carmella), Goldston, NC; Great nieces: Dominique Berryman, Sanford, NC, Hazel Johnson, Sanford, NC, Jordan Barrett, Charlotte, NC; Great nephews: Martell King, Charlotte, NC, Daymon Russell, Sanford, NC, Aunts: Ida Mae Barrett, Goldston, NC and Mary Jones (James), Cheriton, VA; And a host of great-great nieces, great-great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
