Mrs. Evelyn W. McAuley, 85, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in West End, North Carolina.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household and does
not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:26-28
Evelyn W. McAuley, better known to her family and friends as “Sis,” was born in Sanford, North Carolina, on March 14, 1937. She received her heavenly wings on
September 18, 2022, at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst, North Carolina at age 85. With God’s love for our beloved mother and sister, God spoke to her and said “come rest, my child.”
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mason. She was a
faithful member until her brief illness. She attended W.B. Wicker High School and graduated in 1957. She was an employee at Coty for 25 years.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, the late Eddie Williams, Sr., her mother, the late Eva McDuffie Williams, a brother, Eddie “B” Williams Jr., an aunt, Geneve Hicks, and an uncle, Robert McDuffie.
Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of fifty-two years, William S. McAuley Sr.; a daughter, Lolethia A. McAuley of Sanford, North Carolina; a son, William S. McAuley Jr. of Cary, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Imani T. Lowery of Apex, North Carolina; four brothers, Elijah Williams, Ernest Williams, Albert Williams (Mary) and James Williams all of Sanford, North Carolina; five sisters, Martha Cain (Robert), Mary McAuley, Edith McAuley (John), Alice Spruiell (Archie) all of Sanford, North Carolina, and Linnie Stringfellow of Greensboro, North Carolina; one goddaughter, Jazmin Larae McAuley (George and Aiden); three special godchildren, Shonda Quick, Tarys M. Thomas, and Johnathan Quick Jr.; two aunts, Alice McDuffie and Karen McDuffie; one uncle Wayne McDuffie; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Hammer and Shirley McKeithen; a brother-in- law, Clifton McAuley and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
*The family will receive visitors at 155 McDonald Road, Sanford, NC, from the hours of 5pm - 7pm daily. At the family's request everyone that enters the home must be masked.*
