Elizabeth Elliott, 87, of 164 Bertha Lane, Vass, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at her home.
God extended His holy hands on July 4, 2020 and guided Mrs. Elizabeth (McLeod) Elliott into the gates of glory at the age of 87.
Elizabeth was the 6th of 10 children born to Nessie Catherine McLeod on May 12, 1933 in Hoke County, North Carolina.
At a young age, she gave her life to Christ while attending Church of God Holiness Church of Vass, North Carolina, under the leadership of the late Bishop John T. McKeithen.
While working, Elizabeth met the late John Edward Elliott, whom she united in holy matrimony in 1966.
Until her health failed her in 2020, Elizabeth was a faithful member of God’s House of Prayer Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Mary E. Kelly. Elizabeth was ordained as a Church Mother and served her role well while being an example to the younger women. She loved God and was faithful in paying her tithes and reading her bible.
Elizabeth loved to cook, garden, and sew, but most of all, she loved to clean. She took great care of her daughters, working both indoor and outdoor jobs for many years. While employed in housekeeping she received many awards for her excellent work. She had a heart for helping people and was also employed as a caregiver for many years.
Elizabeth’s favorite shows were ‘Jeopardy’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’, which she watched every night without fail.
Her favorite song was “I Will Trust In The Lord Until I Die”, which she sang daily until her Heavenly Father called her home.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Nessie Catherine McLeod; husband, John Edward Elliott; a daughter, Jacqueline Elliott; 2 sisters, Bertha Ann Leach and Katie J. Elliott; 5 brother, Willie McLeod, Henry McLeod, James McLeod, Lawyer McLeod and Irvin McLeod; and 2 great-grandchildren, Janiya Wall and Isaiah McLeod.
