Mr. Edward Lee McNeill, 65, of Apex, North Carolina (formerly of Sanford, North Carolina) entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 31, 2024 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation. 

Edward Lee McNeill was born on January 5, 1959, to the late Henry McNeill and Cleo Sellers.

He attended Western Harnett High School. Following his high school years, “Pops” worked a few jobs but was mainly known for what he did in his recreational time.

“Pops or Huggy,” as many people knew him, was one of the best card players anyone could have known. If he saw a deck of cards, he would talk his mess and sit at the table. One thing about Pops is that he lived his life the way he wanted to and lived it to the fullest, all the way up until his health ultimately declined and he was called home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McNeill, his parents, Henry McNeill and Cleo Sellers, his siblings Preston Howard, John Gilmore, and Lora McNeill.

Those left with many fond memories of Pops are, his son, Edward Belk (JaLisa); his daughter, Stephanie Belk (Mike); seven grandchildren, Carolyn, EJ, Tre, Anthony, Ta’Vion, Kaleb, and Tianna; two brothers, Mark Fredricks and De’Shon Lee; two aunts, Geneva Headen and Carolyn Street; three nieces, Keisha Steadman (Wildred), Whitney Howard, and Angela Lowther; two nephews, DeShawn Townes (Krystle) and John Gilmore Jr.; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a host of other family members and friends.
