Mr. Edward Owens Marks, 66, of Sanford, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday,  February 28, 2025 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Edward Owens Marks was born August 1, 1958, in Sanford, NC, to the late Edward Marks and Audrey Patterson. He was raised by his grandmother, Minnie Marks Southerland.

Owens was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lee Marks, a sister, Patricia Marks Malloy, and mother and father-in-law, Frank and Patricia Willams.

Edward attended and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1975, where he was the valedictorian and member of the marching band. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Army.  After  returning home, he worked at JT Davenport, Parkdale Mills, and Triangle Brick Company for many years until he began getting sick. He attended Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church until he got sick. He was a former Church Sexton and on the Trustee Board.

Owens met the love of his life. Gwendolyn and Owens had three children. No matter the storms and challenges, they stayed together and made it with the help of the Lord. Gwendolyn and Owens were married for 20 blessed years; their union was never broken.

Owens was known for his no-nonsense personality, joking spirit, and kind heart. No matter where he saw you, he would always speak and always remember your birthday. If he hadn’t heard from  you in a while, you would get a phone call checking up on you. Most of all, he was a great father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He would help anyone in any way he could, but please do not  cross him. He loved watching his teams, Cowboys, Oklahoma Sooners, Carolina, and New York Yankees. Monday and Fridays were for wrestling, and we cannot forget Nascar.

Owens leaves to cherish many loving memories of him, his wife, Gwendolyn; his daughter, Olondra; his sons, Orlando and Omar Marks; six brothers and sisters, Brenda Mckoy (Warren) of  Sanford, North Carolina, Amos Josh-A-way (Lora) and Eula Marks, both of Sanford, Terry Lyon of Madison, Wisconsin, Jennifer Johnson of New Hope, Minnesota, and Paula Adams of Humble,  Texas; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
