Mr. Douglas Cornelius Harris, 49, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Douglas Cornelius Harris was born on September 11, 1973, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, to Sherman Harris, Sr., and Rose Stanford Harris. He departed this life on Easter Sunday morning, April 9, 2023, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

From the beginning of his life, he was always a lovable child. He loved to make people laugh. If Douglas was your friend, he had a nickname for you, even his mother, “Big Cookie.” Douglas graduated in 1991 from Pinecrest High School. He played football there. Growing up, he loved to read and watch cartoons making different sounds. Doug had a love for all children; he was his mother’s fluffy teddy bear. Everyone will dearly miss him.

Douglas (Doug) leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Dasiyha Zonae Harris; his son, Jayceon Zani Harris; two stepchildren, Jamisa Stroud and Khalad Alexander; mother, Rose Harris of Southern Pines, NC; father, Sherman Harris, Sr. (Pamela) of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Sherman Harris, Jr. (Ronda) of Greensboro, NC; one niece, Shameka Harris (Terrell) of Drexel Hill, PA; one nephew, Justice Harris of Greensboro, NC; aunts, Laura Simmons DeLeon (Mike) of Little Ferry, NJ and Lorine Covington (Walter) of Monroe, NC; great nephews, Emir Johnson and Terrell Johnson (TJ); uncles, Charles Harris (Marie) of Ellerbe, NC, Sylvester Stanford (Helen) of Aberdeen, NC, Clinton Stanford of VA, and Harold Stanford (Yvonne) of Robbins, NC; and a host of cousins and dear friends.
