Mrs. Dorthy Covington McKayhan, 97, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 22, 2024, Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Pinehurst, North Carolina. 

Engulfed by the pain and anguish of life, burdened with the cares and anxieties of heaven, when all was calm and peaceful, our beloved angel slipped away into the arms of the Mighty God to rest.

Dorthy Covington McKayhan (“Dot, Dot-Dot, Mae, Grandma”) touched the hearts of everyone she encountered with her kindness, humor, and unwavering support. 

Mrs. Dorthy Covington McKayhan, daughter of the late Sarah Jane Davis Covington and William Covington, was born on January 27, 1927, in Moore County, North Carolina, and departed this life on November 22, 2024. She accepted Christ as her savior in her youth and joined Wells Tabernacle Church of God In Christ. She was an active, faithful member until her health declined, holding numerous positions, including choir president and church mother. She was married to Matthew McKayhan, who preceded her in death. She did not bear any children but was a mother,  confidant, and friend to many.

In addition to her late husband, Dorthy was also preceded in death by her mother, father, and thirteen siblings, leaving to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and  friends.
