Obituary
Ms. Dorothy Louise (Douglas) Jackson, 74, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at her residence.
On June 16, 1948, the Lord blessed us with the birth of our gift from God, Dorothy Louise Douglas Jackson. She was the beloved
daughter of the late Henry Junior and Mildred Mason Douglas. God graced her with a sweet, gentle spirit displayed through her smile.
Her easy demeanor and a bright smile lit up any room she was in. Dorothy was a graduate of West Southern Pines High School.
Dorothy met and married her knight and shining armor, the late Artis Jackson. They remained married until God called him home. Being
one of the first supervisors at Manor Care Rehabilitation Center, she worked diligently for thirty-five years or more. Dorothy was recognized
for her excellent service and was awarded “Employee of the Year.” She treated everyone with compassion and great care.
She loved her church family and served in many capacities at Trinity AME Zion Church, including treasurer of the Gospel Choir and choir
member. She loved to bake, bowl, shop, and spend time with her blessed family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mildred Douglas, her husband, Artis Jackson, and her brother-in-law, Saleh Saylon.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories two brothers, Henry Douglas (Gwen) and James Douglas; three sisters, Carolyn Saylon, Toni
Baskerville (Anthony), and Gloria McNeill; special daughter, Jasmine Douglas Booker; goddaughter, Tamekia Douglas; stepson Rodney
Quick; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
