David Stubbs

Mr. David Stubbs, 81, of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 14, 2023, at his residence.

David Stubbs, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2023, in Southern Pines. David was born on June 22, 1942, to the late McDonald Stubbs and Mary Jane Hancock Stubbs in Moore County, North Carolina.

David was a Jack of all trades and mastered many different industries.  He was a respected member of this community, known for throwing the best fish fries. He was the owner of the nightclub, The Peppermint Lounge. He attended West Southern Pines High, where he earned his diploma.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a devoted family man who loved his family above all else. He was a beloved husband to Agnes Stubbs and a devoted father to Jerry Stubbs (Shirley), David Stubbs Jr. (deceased), Belinda Stubbs, James Stubbs (Wilmanell), Carla Stubbs Andrews, Darlene McDowell (Joe), Sheena Chambers (Patrick), and a son-in-law Norman Andrews. His kind spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a cherished and loyal friend to many.

In his free time, David enjoyed fishing, scratching lotto tickets, and cruising around town with his favorite cousin Lee Dale White, which brought him joy and relaxation. He was also a community taxicab and would give a ride to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Stubbs, his father, Macdonald Stubbs, a son, David Stubbs Jr., and his brothers, Mack Lee Stubbs, Ernest Stubbs (Betty), and Clarence Stubbs.

David Stubbs is survived by his wife, Agnes; seven children; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Melvin Stubbs (Grace) and Curtis Stubbs; three sisters, Betty Lewis (Hervater), Geraldine Taylor (John) and Barbara Ann Moore; one aunt, Anne White; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

David Stubbs will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and colleagues.
