David Bernard Stancil Obituary

Mr. David Bernard Stancil, 70, of Aberdeen, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

David Bernard Stancil, affectionately known as “Ricky,” was born on June 8, 1955, in Moore County, North Carolina, and peacefully transitioned on April 11, 2026. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and dedication touched the lives of many.

Ricky was educated in the Moore County School System and proudly graduated from Pinecrest High School as a member of the Class of 1974. During his high school years, he developed a passion for music, serving as drum major and playing the saxophone and clarinet in the school band. His talent earned him national recognition when he was named to the McDonald’s All-American High School Band. After high school, Ricky continued to share his musical gifts by performing in a local band at various venues for many years.

A man of many interests, Ricky was a devoted Las Vegas Raiders fan and enjoyed playing golf. His infectious smile, genuine kindness, and warm presence brought joy to everyone he met. Ricky dedicated over 53 years of his life to Pinehurst Resort, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike for his unwavering commitment and warm spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Stancil, his sister, Vernetta Sutton, and his brother, Michael Stancil.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Ricky are, his loving wife of 33 years, Nancy R. Stancil; two daughters, Jasmine Stancil of the home and Tamla Terrell (Leslie) of Dallas, Georgia; a granddaughter, Mrs. Destiny Walker (Matthew) of Mableton, Georgia; two grandsons, Mr. Chadrick Terrell, and Caden Terrell of Dallas, Georgia; one great granddaughter, Genesis Walker of Mableton Georgia; one brother, Clifton Stancil (Constance) of Durham. North Carolina; an uncle, William “Billy” Stancil (Margaret) of Greensboro, North Carolina; an aunt, Betty Camp of Raleigh, North Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Henry Sutton of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Thomas Redmond (Peggy) of Kittrell, North Carolina, and Maurice Redmond (Carlene) of Mableton, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ricky’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will forever be cherished.
