Mr. Claudie Nathaniel McLaughlin, 82, of West End, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, North Carolina.   

Claudie Nathaniel McLaughlin “Mac/Nat/Nate” was born on April 7, 1942, in Carthage, North Carolina, to the late Claude Alton McLaughlin and the late Fannie O. Marsh (Person). From an  early age, he was raised by his beloved paternal aunt, Annie McLaughlin (Goins/Barrett).

While stationed at Warner Robins AFB in Warner Robins, Georgia, he met and later married the love of his life, Annie Lois Lowe, on April 2, 1966. They moved to New Jersey from Georgia shortly after she graduated from high school. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Mark T.L. McLaughlin, who preceded him in death in 2008, and Michelle Denise McLaughlin-Watt (Edward).

During his life in New Jersey, he worked in a mill, as an insurance man, a Corrections Officer, and finally retired as a Principal Investigator with Internal Affairs for the Department of Corrections. 
After a few years of retirement, he wanted to go “home,” so he and Annie retired to the Taylortown Municipality of West End, North Carolina.

He was a lover of family, both of blood and heart. You became family once you had been to the house a few times. To cherish his memory, he leaves a legacy of love. He is survived by the two
loves and light of his life, Annie Lois and Michelle; a goddaughter, Taneisa N. Butler; three brothers, Theodore McLaughlin (Tracy), Thuron Bey McLaughlin, and Thornton Person (Kate); three
sisters, Judy Lee, Velma Covington (Bobby), and Priscilla Person Bracey; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and some dear family friends.

Following a lengthy illness and other physical challenges, Mac quietly departed this life on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in West End, North Carolina.

He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
