Christine Gillespie Obituary

Ms. Christine Gillespie, of Carthage, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Christine Gillespie was born in Clio, South Carolina, to the late Prentice Gillespie and Virginia Townsend Gillespie. After a prolonged illness, she departed this life peacefully at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. Her beautiful smile will truly be missed by many.

Christine attended Marlboro County Schools and later moved to Moore County, where she worked on the family farm. Christine later moved on to become a Geriatric Assistant and a Domestic worker until retirement.

Christine touched the hearts of many families during her years of working. She was treated as family by the Johnsons, Kelso’s, and Maples, to name a few. Christine was mainly known for her gardening and landscaping. Judging from the beautiful flowers in her pictures, her great passion and love for gardening as a hobby are evident.

Christine was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Covington, two sisters, Pandora and Virginia Mae Gillespie, and three brothers, Ronnie, Prentice Jr., and Henry Gillespie.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one grandson, Imani Arlo Gillespie of Laurinburg NC;  three sisters, Martha McInnis of Clio, SC, and Betty Martin and Rosa Covington of Carthage,  NC; eight brothers, Freddie Lloyd (Sallie) of Long Island, NY, Frank Gillespie of Aberdeen NC, Gerald Martin (Marleen) of Carthage, Jerry Gillespie (Cynthia) of Woodbridge, VA,  Robert Gillespie (Jackie) of Cameron, NC, Mack Gillespie (Sherelle) and Tommy Gillespie  (Deborah) both of Bennettsville, SC, and Tony Townsend (Angie) of Laurinburg, NC; one  uncle, John Frank; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins; and her true best friend through thick and thin, Linda M. Thompson.

Please keep the family and friends of Ms. Christine Gillespie in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements are entrusted to McLeod Funeral Home of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
