Charles McLeod Obituary

Mr. Charles A. McLeod, 72, of 455 Rothney Ave, Southern Pines, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Friday February 26, 2021 at his residence.

Charles A. McLeod was called by our gracious Heavenly Father to take his rest at the age of 72.

On February 26, 2021, he transitioned from this life in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

On November 11, 1948, Charles was born to the late Nessie Catherine McLeod in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He grew up in Vass as the baby boy of ten brothers and sisters.

In 1971, Charles married Judy and later bought a home in Southern Pines to raise their family. He joined First Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board, President of the Travelers Choir, and a Male Chorus member. He loved to pray, and through the years, he prayed more and more. He would repeat the Lord's Prayer at every treatment. He also love the song "He got the whole world in His hands;" you could not convince him he was not the author of that song.

Along with being an outstanding husband and father, he also enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He loved family gatherings; he had to have lots of food and loud music. The closing prayer was always mandatory after every event. He also was a part-time counselor providing advice on every life situation to anyone he saw fit.

In addition to his late mother, Charles was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Ann Leach, Katie J. Elliott, and Elizabeth McLeod Elliott; five brothers, Willie McLeod, Henry McLeod, James McLeod, Lawyer McLeod and Irvin McLeod.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife, Judy, of forty-nine years; three daughters, Angela McLeod of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Catherine Townsend (David) of Aberdeen, North Carolina, and Cheryl McLeod of Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Mozella Graham of Cameron, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Teshawn Harris, Aarien McLeod, Cierra Davis, DaJante Thomas, David Townsend, Jr., De'Nasa Townsend, and Ce'Anna Townsend; one great-granddaughter, Aliya Harris; five sisters-in-law, Mamie McLeod of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Mariam McCrimmon of Bronx, New York, Patricia McCrimmon of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Sally Harris of Vass, North Carolina, and Mary Clark (Columbus) of Vass, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Samuel King (Elaine), and Alton McCrimmon (Estelle); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to McLeod Funeral Home of Sanford, North Carolina.
