Mr. Charles Edward Jackson, Jr., 73 of Southern Pines, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Magnolia Gardens in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Charles Edward Jackson, Jr., AKA: “Junior” and “Jack,” was born October 26, 1949, to the late Charles Edward Jackson, Sr. and Lydia Dowd Jackson. He departed this life on Thursday, August 3, 2023, as he slept away from his earthly home to be with the Lord and reunite with his Christian parents in heaven.
A native of Moore County, Junior walked in his father’s footsteps and worked in masonry for many years; however, his greatest passion was utilizing his God-given talent as an outstanding bass guitar player. He often stated, “If I can make the musical sound with my mouth, then I can play it with my fingers on my bass.” Junior played the bass guitar for various church choirs and quartet groups for many years, including a quartet group called the Cousinairs. Junior enjoyed playing the bass alongside his siblings as they did monthly worship services at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home, where he was a resident. Despite the health challenges he encountered, he continued playing the bass at Magnolia Gardens until two months before his passing.
Junior had a real sense of humor and loved to have the platform to make people laugh. He loved to laugh and would sometimes make up his own jokes. He was very outgoing, to say the least, as he was a real “people person,” an entertainer, and he didn’t meet a stranger.
Junior acknowledged Christ as his personal Savior; therefore, he can now enjoy a better life of “bass” music in the presence of the Almighty God. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Dorothy Jackson of Fayetteville; stepchildren: Cassandra (Mervin) Robinson and Vincent Marable; one brother: Emanuel Jackson (Thomarine); four sisters: Costella McKoy (Roy), Mahalia Williams (Leonard), Veronica Johnson (Derwin), and Evelyn Hobbs (David); one god-brother/cousin: Lewis Onzell Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Please keep the family and friends of Mr. Charles Edward Jackson, Jr. in your thoughts and prayers.
